Rules

Official rules, one friendly exception

The tournament runs to the official beach volleyball rules.

  • Hand-setting is judged generously — more tolerance on double contact and on holding the ball in the set
  • Schedules, times and court assignments are sent to players in advance
  • Ten minutes' grace to show up for a match — after that the organisation can call a walkover
  • Any claim goes from one of the pair straight to the organisation
  • Technical decisions taken during play are final

The venue

Two courts, one beach

The cup is played in the sports area of Hotel Qema, on the sand at Mancora.

  • Hotel Qema, Mancora, Piura — courts on site

Common questions

What players ask before entering

When is the beach volleyball tournament in Mancora?

Reyes de la Playa runs on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026, in the sports area of Hotel Qema Mancora, on Peru's north coast. Entries close on 10 September.

How much does it cost to enter?

S/.80 per pair — that is for both players together, not each. It covers the tournament shirt for both of you and the closing party.

Do I need a partner to enter?

Yes — this one is played in mixed pairs, one man and one woman, so you enter as a two. If you are looking for a partner, message Gaby on WhatsApp and we will try to match you with someone else looking.

What level do I need to play?

It is a competitive bracket, so it suits players who already rally comfortably. Hand-setting is judged generously, which makes it friendlier than a federation event for players coming up from open play. If you have never played, come to a Level 1 class instead and aim at the next cup.

How many matches will I play?

At least two. The group stage guarantees every pair a second match regardless of the first result, and the crossover round gives second and third in each group another route into the quarter-finals.

Is there prize money?

Yes. Reyes de la Playa pays S/.1,100 in total: S/.700 to the winning pair, S/.300 to second and S/.100 to third, handed over once the final is played.

Can foreigners and travellers enter the tournament?

Yes. Reyes de la Playa is open to visitors as well as Peruvian players — Mancora is a travel town and every edition has had players passing through. You register the same way, over WhatsApp, and bring photo ID for both players.

Where do players stay in Mancora?

Hotel Qema Mancora holds a tournament rate for players, and the courts are on site, so you can walk to your matches. Rooms run from $65 to $170 a night for two, with taxes, service and breakfast included.
