Common questions

Everything people ask before their first session

Do I need experience to play beach volleyball in Mancora?

No. Level 1 is built for people who have never touched a ball, and open play every evening needs no level at all. Beginners, improvers and seasoned competitors each train in the right group.

Where is the beach volleyball court in Mancora?

On the sand in Mancora, Piura, right in front of Casa Mara and Papa Mo's. Mancora is about two hours from Tumbes airport and three from Piura.

Do I need to book, or can I just turn up?

Open play runs every day from 6:30pm to 10pm with no booking and no level required — just turn up and we will put you on a team. For graded classes, message us first.

I'm travelling alone. Can I still play?

Yes, and most people do. You’re always put into a group, so you arrive on your own and leave with a team. Travellers, locals and long-stay visitors all play together — it's one of the easiest places in South America to turn up alone with a ball in your bag.

Are there beach volleyball tournaments in Peru I can enter?

Yes. We run mixed-level tournaments most Fridays at Papa Mo's and once a month at Qema. Teams are mixed, so you don't need to bring a partner. Dates go out on Instagram first.

Can I coach beach volleyball in Peru as a volunteer?

Yes. We host volunteer coaches for four to twelve weeks — twelve hours a week, two days off, a private room and Wi-Fi included. Coaching certification or high-level competitive experience is preferred.
